Das Historisch-Biografische Lexikon der Schweiz nennt einen Alexander Mengelt im Jahr 1553 als Podestat zu Tirano. Podestaten (Gemeinde-Verwalter) hiessen die Bündnerischen Vögte zur Zeit der Herrschaft über das Veltlin (16. bis 18. Jahrhundert). The Historical Biographical Dictionary of Switzerland mentions an Alexander Mengelt as "Podestat" of Tirano in the year 1553 . "Podestat" was the term of an Administrator of Community of the Valtelline, a vassal state of Grisons (Graubünden) in the 16th century. (Today, Valtelline is a region of Northern Italy.)
